Birth Debrief
What is it and why Birth Debrief?
Birth debrief is exactly that, debriefing about your birth.
Reflecting and sharing emotions, feelings, thoughts, questions, confusions surrounding your baby's birth. Birth debriefing allows you to talk openly about your experience of birth, it allows women to tell their story.

Women whom experienced a traumatic birth may experience trauma symptoms in the early days, weeks and months after giving birth. Many women are often left with feelings of frustration, panic, sadness, guilt even shame surrounding their birthing experience. These feelings can begin to have great impacts on their everyday life such as trouble sleeping, constant agitation, restlessness, have out of character mood swings and begin to isolate or detach themselves from friends and loved ones.
It is important for women to address how they are feeling after birth, ignoring or dismissing their feelings can lead to further problems and long term complications including PTSD. In order to reduce the impact of a traumatic birth experience it is essential to seek support and I truly believe Birth Debriefing can be one of the first steps.
Birth debrief focuses on giving women a voice and place to freely acknowledge and discuss their emotions. It aims to encourage women to own and acknowledge their birth experience as their own and recognise that however they felt or are feeling is okay.
